Attendance

The register is a statutory record. SOS treats it like one.

Morning and afternoon registers on DfE’s codes, the office’s calls home, and the reports governors and local authorities ask for, all from the same marks.

Taking the register on a phone takes seconds.

Registers

Quick for teachers. Exact for the record.

Teachers mark a group in seconds on any device. Every mark keeps its code, its session and who changed it, and nothing is ever filled in for them.

  • DfE’s attendance codes for both sessions, with late arrival times and notes.
  • Same as this morning copies the morning’s marks onto the afternoon register.
  • Office notes made after a call show on the teacher’s register and can’t be overwritten.
  • Lunch choices on the morning register, ready for the kitchen and the census.
  • Block registration marks a pupil or a group across a date range, or chosen days of the week, with a preview before anything is saved.
The full register on a desktop, with each pupil's last five days beside today's mark.

Daily absences

Every pupil not yet accounted for, with a number to ring.

The office opens one page and sees who is late, off site or not in, with pupils marked N at the top and each contact’s numbers one tap away.

  • Record the call and change the code from the same row.
  • Each pupil’s last five days shown beside their name, so a pattern is plain.
  • Contacts with a court order or restriction are never dialled for you.
  • A warning, not a block, when a pupil’s run of suspension marks passes DfE’s limits.
Follow up an absence: ring home, change the mark and add a note.

Reports

The figures governors, Ofsted and the local authority ask for.

Sessions are counted the way DfE counts them: dual registration and sessions a pupil was not expected at are left out, and today’s session counts once a pupil is marked.

  • Persistent and severe absence, for pupils of compulsory school age, with the threshold you choose.
  • Term attendance, attendance by code, registrations by date, persistent lateness, holidays in term time and split days.
  • Your own pupil flags as filters, alongside SEN, pupil premium and the rest.
  • A pupil’s attendance record printed or saved as a PDF, ready for the local authority.
Persistent absence, worked out for you, with the flags that matter beside each name.

When it matters most

An emergency roll-call that is always ready.

Everyone on roll today, by group, with this session’s marks, who is off site, and contacts for those who should be here. Print it as a short sheet for each crew in seconds.

1

Who should be here

Present, late and not yet marked, group by group, from this session’s register.

2

Who is away

Pupils off site on a trip or at another school are shown apart, so nobody is searched for in vain.

3

Who to call

Contacts for each pupil, with restricted contacts flagged and never offered to ring.
